Collies in Care are dogs who need a little more time, attention, or medical support while they’re with Northeast Ohio Collie Rescue. Some are healing from illness or injury, some are managing chronic conditions, and some are part of our beloved Cosmo Dog program — Collies who will stay with trusted foster families long‑term because of age, medical needs, or special circumstances.
This section highlights their stories and the compassionate care they receive. It also gives our community a way to support these dogs directly. Visitors can donate to the Cosmo Fund, which helps cover ongoing medical expenses for senior and special‑needs Collies, or sponsor a featured medical‑needs dog whose care requires additional resources. Every contribution provides comfort, stability, and hope for the Collies who need it most.

Cali’s Next Steps (Collies in Care)
Cali
Collie in Recovery
Cali came to NEOCR in May 2025 at just 9 months old. Poor breeding left her with severe hip dysplasia, and she needed major surgery on both hips—care her owner could not afford. Surrendering Cali to NEOCR was a difficult but loving choice that gave her the chance at a healthy future.
After multiple evaluations, NEOCR sent Cali to Purdue University for treatment, where a board member in Indiana fostered her through recovery. Her first hip replacement in July 2025 was complex and unfortunately failed, requiring a corrective FHO surgery and a six‑month recovery. On January 8, 2026, she underwent a second successful FHO on her right hip. She is now healing well and expected to be fully recovered within 6–12 weeks.
Cali is a beautiful sable girl with a joyful, goofy spirit. She loves toys, other dogs, and a good game of fetch. She’s housebroken, crate trained, and adores every person she meets. Once fully healed, Cali will be ready for adoption and the happy life she deserves.
NEOCR is still working to cover Cali’s extensive medical and foster‑care costs, and donations toward her recovery are deeply appreciated.
Bluey
Cosmo Dog
Bluey is a sweet 13‑year‑old gentleman who came to NEOCR when his owner needed to downsize her household to care for her husband, who had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Rehoming her animals was a heartbreaking but necessary step so she could focus on his care.
Bluey is now thriving in a loving forever‑foster home in northeast Ohio, where he’s spoiled daily and enjoys life with his new canine siblings. His foster parents absolutely adore him—they even took this handsome boy with them to The Gathering at Sunnybank in 2025.
Bluey may be a senior, but he’s living his golden years surrounded by comfort, companionship, and so much love.
Senior dogs like Bluey often need extra veterinary care, and donations to the Cosmo Fund help us continue providing the medical support they deserve.
Cosmo Dog
Jamie
Jamie and his brother came to NEOCR after their owner’s spouse passed and was struggling to care for all of the family’s animals alone. Making the decision to surrender two beloved dogs was incredibly difficult, but it ensured they would receive the care and attention they needed.
NEOCR was fortunate to place both boys together in the same home! Now 10 years old, Jamie is enjoying the good life—comfortable, adored, and thoroughly spoiled alongside his brother, just as every senior deserves.
Senior dogs often require additional veterinary care. Donations to the Cosmo Fund help us provide the medical support dogs like Jamie need to live out their golden years with comfort and dignity.
